Is it still a weeknotes if I write massive amounts of text? All the other ones I’ve seen are shorter and more list-heavy. Well, whatever.
π© Writing this from Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, with one kitty sleeping behind me on a heated blanket and the other two dozing in the homeowner’s bedroom (one on the bed, one under it). I have the back door open and it’s great weather, mid-60s and sunny– though my writing desk corner is shaded most of the day, which makes it easier to see the screen. I can see the garden from my desk, and so far have chased off the groundhog twice from breaking in and stealing tomatoes. I have on a new-to-me merino wool sweater on that I got from a thrift store a few weeks ago for like $7, which is my favorite shade of purple: a deep wine color. It’s soft and doesn’t itch like most wool things. The WALL-E soundtrack is playing as background noise.
Life Updates
The first half of the week was spent in a semi-sick state– not actually ill, but just bleh feeling, compounded by too much computer use tbh. I finally forced myself outside on Thursday and went walking around, and found a MASSIVE burdock just at the edge of someone’s yard which inexplicably cheered me up.
πββ¬ The cats have been total sweeties this week (despite one day when a cat threw up his breakfast in 3 places, and another one left a poo just outside the litter box) and keep sitting on my lap/near me– compared to where we were at the start of this sit, when they were so nervous they hid under a bet all day, this is great! But of course I’m leaving in a few days and now all I can think about is how much I’ll miss them. π
The only thing that solves that problem is going to another catsit, and luckily I have another one lined up right after this one.
Media Consumption
π§ I can’t believe it but I’ve caught up with Not Another D&D Podcast and am now in real-time with the show. I started listening to the first campaign in April, and somehow made it through idk how many episodes– including the non-campaign ones like Turtle Tank and D&D Court. Of course now I’m bereft because I have nothing to listen to, so I’m gonna have to find something.
I have several more actual-play podcasts on my to-try list, but it’s very hard to find a combination of a) interesting story, b) good cast dynamics, c) edited well and d) NOT a video-only. I do have some older The Adventure Zone arcs to catch up on (like Ethersea), so maybe I’ll just do that for a while…
πΊ Watched a horrible documentary about Bergdorf Goodman that veered wildly from its stated topic and should’ve been edited down to like 20 minutes, and even then it’s pointless if you have no interest in the actual store itself. I don’t even want to bother mentioning it by name.
Otherwise still watching Granada Sherlock Holmes episodes (mostly picked at random). A notable episode this week was The Six Napoleons, which has a decent story, excellent cast (including Marina Sirtis aka Star Trek TNG’s Deanna Troi as a minor character) and lovely character beats. I’ve been re-reading Neko Muses’ Decoding the Subtext for each story afterwards which has been fun, too– though of course the TV show sometimes differs from the books (which DtS is based on).
π Gave up on Here Begins the Sea for now, as there’s no way I’ll finish it before I leave and it’s too big to pack. Instead I’ll read it as an ebook– it’s available from my library but I’ll have to put it on hold so it’ll be a few weeks before I can continue.
I went through my stash of LFL books and managed to narrow it down to only ones that aren’t available as ebooks. So now I’ll just have to pack 5 books instead of 10! Yay!
Otherwise I’ve been reading a lot of fanfiction, mostly Star Wars AUs with Mandalorians and Jedi working together (and falling in love). Highly recommend reading How a Romance Novel Saved the Galaxy if that’s your thing, too!
Food & Dining
I got some Amish Country Popcorn from a nearby store and it’s definitely better than the store brand kernels I’ve been getting. They pop more evenly and consistently, and the popped kernels are soft and chewy– no secret hard bits trying to break my fillings!
Web Updates

I spent like 4 days working on a revamp of my website– I’m switching from DocuWiki to HTML/CSS which means a lot of reformatting, but I’m also taking the time to re-organize things and edit some pages. It’s a little slow-going, but now that I have a layout I like and a sitemap to follow it should go quicker. I plan on really tackling it once I get to my next catsit in a few weeks.
New on the blog:
Looking Forward
I have a small break between catsits and I’m going to visit my parents (and swap out clothes/etc) this upcoming week. It’ll be nice to see everyone, but I hate travel days where I fly and now I have two of them coming up. Ugh.
