Life Updates
This week had some bummer personal things happening– mom went briefly into the hospital and had several tests done for potential mini-stroke, but luckily(?) it turned out to probably be an autoimmune thing instead. She got some meds for the symptoms and is doing better! (Or so she says, anyway.)
I had headaches 3/7 days and am sure part of it was the pillow I’m using, which is insufficiently cushion-y. But probably also partly the stress, and dehydration.
๐โโฌ The most curious cat, Mr W, has started going up onto the counters and sniffing every single food item I make, plus then trying to touch it and/or eat it. If I put a dirty dish in the sink, he tries to get in there at it. He also started drinking dirty sink water, which is gross, so I put a water bowl up on the counter to distract him from that and it seems to have worked.
Miss K is a little more chill but only because she doesn’t like jumping higher than the bed OR going into cabinets. She does like to sit on my lap for 5-8 hours a day, though, and despises my laptop. ;D
Media Consumption
๐ I’m slowly making my way through Enemy Feminisms, which is one of those books that I needed to download an extra dictionary for AND which I have to reread passages to make sure I understand their content. It’s good brain exercise, and it’s an interesting topic.
๐ฎ I finished a dungeon on LOZ: Link Between Worlds (see previous post) and wanted to take a break, so I started playing Disney Magical World 2, which is sort of like Animal Crossing mixed with a basic adventure game. It’s super cute (I love collecting the different outfits and furniture), but it’s also got some really annoying missed opportunities for showing a personality or any depth.
The game is obviously meant for a younger audience, so I get why some things are the way they are. But it also feels like a half-complete game.
For instance, there’s a tiny chipmunk-sized door on one of the buildings. Examining it shows the text “it’s a tiny door.” Wow, thanks. Some of the “quests” just have you watch a cutscene, you literally don’t do anything! Why not put a minigame there?
Or if you select sunglasses to wear, it just puts them on top of your character’s glasses. It doesn’t remove your original glasses from the character creator or anything.
Also, the Lilo & Stitch world has some weird stuff. Like, when you meet Lilo she asks if you’re a tourist (call back to the first movie?) but then immediately wants to become your friend and never brings it up again. She teaches you hula, etc.
Likewise there’s a (looks white) surf shop owner who says he visited Hawaii one time and decided to move there and open up a surf shop. ๐ It’s so tone deaf. It WAS made in 2016, though.
Food & Dining
I finally drank one of the teas I’ve been holding onto since 2022, where I got it from a Scottish B&B: Twinings Superblend Sleep, with spiced apple, vanilla, camomile and passionflowers. I put a bit of honey in it and it was VERY good.

Looking Forward
Nothing major planned for this upcoming week, except I need to buy a plane ticket from my sit that ends in November to the one that starts in December. I’d also like to visit a thrift store or two! I kept meaning to go last week and then never did (understandable).
The weather is starting to turn colder which means I might be able to wear a sweater soon…
