weeknotes (nov. 9-15, 2025)

Life Updates

Kind of a bleh week for blogging but enjoyable for living– relaxing and non-stressful, which is all that I want.

One thing of note: I realized I booked my flight from here to my next sit for the wrong day, but luckily I was able to cancel it and use the money towards a ticket for the correct day. I DID end up paying double what I originally did, which sucks, but at least I’ll get there on the right date now.

And it worked out okay anyway, money-wise, because the owner invited me to stay the night before she leaves, so I’ll save $100-something on a hotel! It all balances out in the end, really.

๐Ÿˆ Curious orange kitty (codename Mr. B-Denver) has figured out how to open cabinets and got into the ones right above the fridge, which was hilarious! Luckily nothing important is up there. Overweight Siamese kitty (codename Ms. S-Denver) meanwhile has warmed up to me a lot and is now regularly sleeping next to me while I work on the computer. They not lap cats, which is kind of a bummer, but they do like to be in the same room as much as possible.

Media Consumption

๐Ÿ“– Currently actively reading 3 books! I’m about 100 pages into Cheap Land Colorado, which is a journalistic/memoir thing about people living on the prairie in southern Colorado. It’s very non-judgemental which is nice, and even when the author runs into people that really need some therapy, he doesn’t put them down or anything– he just lets them tell their own story however they want.

I’ve also started reading Sisters of the Earth, a 1990s anthology of woman-centered writing about nature. It’s very Of the Time, but I’m finding quite a few authors/books to add to my wishlist.

And I just started Our Shellfish Desires, the 6th book in the scifi/fantasy m/m romance series Sucker for Love Mysteries. I’d been reading this series last year on Kindle Unlimited, but then the author got the rights back from the publisher and pulled them to re-release (with new covers) themself. It’s now caught up to where I left off AND I have a free KU trial, so I’m happy to be able to continue the series.

Basically how I’m balancing them is: I read a piece or two from Sisters of the Earth in the morning (with coffee), Cheap Land Colorado gets read throughout the day, and Our Shellfish Desires is the bedtime read.

๐ŸŽฎ Started playing Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions which is the 3DS remake of the GBA game. I’d been playing Paper Mario: Sticker Star and was just really underwhelmed (despite my love of stickers), so I thought I’d dump it for something a little more fun.

I’m pretty sure I’ve played the Superstar Saga remake before as the Beanbean Kingdom is very familiar, but I don’t think I finished it. I’m MUCH better playing it now than the first time, if so, because I’m way better at the timing needed for attacks and dodges and stuff.

I put that down to playing (and completing!!) Paper Mario: Origami King on the Switch a few years ago. I don’t have the rhythm necessary for playing games that depend on it, but I can manage with the Mario games at least.

Food & Dining

I figured out how to make quesadillas in the air fryer and have been eating way too many of them. Also got apple pastries on clearance at the supermarket! It’s so lovely being so close to a grocery store; I really do enjoy going in person when I can and finding in-store deals.

Looking Forward

I need to do some sightseeing because I’m already about to leave Denver soon, so I’m planning on going to at least one museum, the downtown area and possibly a few more thrift stores.

It’s supposed to rain/snow later this week and I will NOT be going out in that, so I also expect to get a lot of reading done! And I have several blog posts that need to be finished and posted next week, too, including a Little Free Library haul.
